Strut, 2018

Greenwood Park, Columbus OH.

Project Overview

Hand-cut traffic cones, barrels, tires, fence, PVC conduit, paint, rope lights

Photographed at High St, Short North Arts District, Columbus, OH

Strut was included in the Shortpop Sculpture Series, a temporary public sculpture program made with retired construction materials donated by Paul Peterson Company. The Short North Alliance created this sculpture program as a whimsical visual response to the 2018 Streetscape Improvements Project in the Short North Arts District.

This piece, along with Coilover, was on view for 2 months during the summer of 2018.

Installation

Strut was installed on a bustling part of High Street in front of Greenwood Park and adjacent to Columbus’ well-known Skully’s Music-Diner. Because of the high amount of foot traffic at night, the sculpture included rope lights that followed the curves of the PVC conduit, highlighting parts of it to a cool blue for nighttime enjoyment.
